if anyone is interested, Ashley Wagner re-started the "vlog season"! here's her first video , where she says she was very ill recently and couldn't prepare for Nebelhorn trophy. Oddily, she doesn't mention the show in LA : ( btw, the boy behind her is Austin, his elder brother, who's a competitive skater as well. There's also Adam Rippon toward the end ^^ funny and interesting video as always! she's beautiful <3

Wow she looks very different when she lets her hair down. Looks much better than a bun. Thanks for sharing, and her brother was :respec1: !

Carolina Kostner is back with Huth in Oberstdorf. Right now she has problems with her knee, so she can't train the difficult jamps, but overall it's going ok.

New article about Christina Gao:

http://goldenskate.c...10/101010.shtml

Yu-Na mention here:

Quote

"I really hope to use this season to find my zone in every competition so that I can carry that with me as I push towards 2014. After seeing Yuna Kim with the Olympics, I realized that dreams can come true. I love skating, and if I work hard, hopefully that can happen for me, too."

It was interesting to see Christina touch on a lot of interesting topics that I've thought about her and her skating, such as her commitment to her 3/3. I was glad to see her go for it in the LP at JGP Germany, even though it wouldn't have made a difference in the final standing. That's the kind of commitment I like to see. Two thumbs up from me.

Also, she talked about working on the 2A/3T combo...I'm glad she's working on it, but it's okay to take things step by step. She says she wants to put it in the second half of her program (like Yu-Na does), and that seems overly ambitious when the she admits to fatigue in the second half of her program and the 2A is not her best jump. I think Adelina does that combo too and it's in the first half.

Quote

Soon after returning home, the Ohio native had a shift in attitude that stoked her competitive fire. Fueled by her desire to compete with the top ladies in the world, Gao started working fervently on mastering a triple flip-triple toe loop combination.

Seems like both Gao and Rippon were really fired up after the end of the season. Their work this summer has certainly paid off. I think Gao, Yasmin Siraj, and Agnes will all be fun to watch against the veterans at 2011 Nationals.

Thanks spiccoli for the link...

My thought is, Joannie skips the nationals then she won't be at the worlds? I think she's done.

She's 24, got her Olympic medal, she's enjoying her time skating for her fans, got a boyfriend....maybe she's thinking about settling down, and thinking of other options such as becoming a coach, choreographer, or something completely different. I really did enjoy her in the GP events....

Given how much Canadian federation loves Joannie, if she really wants to go to WC, they'll send her even if she skips the Nats. It's ultimately up to the federation officials to decide who gets to go, and I don't think that the current crop of Canadian ladies are good enough to challenge Joannie in this case.

BUT...

I think you're right that Joannie may not want to go back to competitive skating. She's had her moments, and I don't think she has any special regrets or anything like that about her competitive career. I wish her all the best in whatever she chooses to do in the future.

Joannie on the Today Show:

http://today.msnbc.m...184891#40887582

I am thinking it would be really cool if they could get Yuna on as a guest to discuss her whirlwind 2010. And then a performance at Rockefeller Center would be amazing!

Thanks for this. Joannie showed us incredible bravery and courage at Vancouver. I don't really care about some people might have said. She totally deserved her bronze.

She really moved me and my mum to tears and we were both amazed with her dignified emotional skates. She completed 7 triples in her LP (Compares to Yuna's 6, and 4 by asada include 2x3A), a clean short and I found her overall presentation was much more maturer artistically than either Mao or Mirai, even with a few mistakes in her LP.

-------------

Rockerfella centre rink is tiny, not sure how Yuna would react being the speedy gonzalez she is. Mirai skated there when she won the '08 US nationals, she is another speedy skater and crash to the beside and had a cute stunned moment. It kind of reminded me of a Yuna Junior '05 WC SP moment actually, must be because of the same location.

http://www.youtube.c...h?v=eKUBq6GMwQM (see 2min12) Mirai on Todays Show.

http://www.youtube.c...h?v=oG0qnX_RoGE (see 1 min 24) Yuna at Jr WC '05.

I think many might have speculated (or may be just me) if that is why Yuna has this psychological mental block against the 3 loop - her arch nemesis.

I did indeed. Took a second for the Detroit-Alissa connection to kick in. I had to laugh that they were actually including skating somehow in a Superbowl ad. But yeah, it was a great ad.
