Yesturday in Moscow were presented Olimpic and Paralimpic Torches for Sochi-2014. It has design of A feather of the Fire-bird. Also You can see the letter "P" (Россия/Russia). I think the car designer V.Pirozhkov (Citroen, Toyota) took part in this project.

Sochi-preview, elaborately and detailed in every 4 disciplline.
About Yu-Na:

Quote

At nationals, Kim set records for scores in both the short program (78.50) and free skate (150.06). Setting aside the inconsistencies of scoring standards that sometimes render those scores meaningless, Kim's performance was indeed record-worthy. It was smooth and confident from the triple Lutz-triple toe combination right through the finish. The 2009 world champ and three-time Grand Prix final winner, Kim has never finished off the podium when she and other skaters have competed under ISU rules.

Oof. Wrong scores for Yu-Na--those are her Olympic scores, not her recent Nationals scores.

Well, everything is soooo expensive in London. I heard that a bottle of water is like more than 1 pound or something... :sweatingbullets:

Yup, the countdown has already started in the Today Show. I can't be sure but I think last Thursday they did a bit about the preparations being done in Sochi and how Vladimir Putin is extremely involved with the project. Also, they said something about Russia stocking up on snow in case the snow doesn't come in time, which I found very funny :rofl2: But Putin PROMISED the snow will come, he has extreme foresight! Sochi is gonna be so interesting

Yes, it's only looking affordable. Tickets for hokkey semi-final, final and bronze medal match has already sold out in 30 min. Clients bought all rooms in hotel which haven't built yet. Second-handers work very good. It will more expensive than London-2012 I think. Russia has already spent 50 bln. dollars. I tried get any information in my domestic Oly Commettee. They know nothing. It my last chance to see my favorite athlet. :wallbash:

Yikes, I really dislike Russia doing this. In UK it is ILLEGAL for purchase tickets for resell or for any secondary ticket market. You have to submit application to get the ticket, and it works like a lottery, you might get it you might not. Or you can be on standby hoping for last minute returned tickets or unsold spots online for a limited time window. There are no ticket sold above face value. If they are £80, you will just have to pay £80. You have no choice of where to sit as long as they are the same cateory. We applied for like 7 events, but we only manage to win 1, but these are for the Mens 100 m Final (!!! So no complaints - since over 1 mill people applied for these), they cost £350 each and have our names on them :) Great souvenir.

You are right only partly. It's a lottery. But the company which selling tickets is the same that it was in previous OG (I've heard it from Germany). It is ILLEGAL in Russia TOO. You are buying the personal tickets. Probably russian know another way to make money?

Six questions leading up to Sochi 2014 (NBC Sports)

Quote

What about Yuna Kim?
The South Korean star is also looking to repeat, and looked great in Germany back in December, winning gold at her first event in more than eighteen months. She should lock up a spot in Sochi at worlds in March, and definitely looks to shine on the ice again, but Americans Ashley Wagner and Gracie Gold, who were both impressive at U.S. nationals last month, might have something to say about that.

The 2014 Sochi Winter Games: One Year To Go (NBC news)

Quote

It's too early to know for sure which athletes will compete in Sochi, but some key names to watch are Lindsey Vonn (United States, Alpine skiing), Shaun White (United States, snowboarding), Yuna Kim (South Korea, figure skating) and Yevgeny Plushenko (Russia, figure skating).

International Winter Olympic Athletes (sportsillustrated.cnn.com)

Quote

Kim Yu-Na
Korea
Kim, the 2010 Olympic ladies' figure skating singles champion, took time off after Vancouver, but proved that she was back for real when she won the Korean national championships in 2013.

It must be interesting for You. Russian journalists make a Medal table for today for each winter Oly discipline in accordance with the their events (WCH, stages and so on) like it would be OG now. They will add results of FS WCH, WCup of Hockey in may and so on. Now Team of Germany is leading. (Below the results of Vancouver-2014).

Tickets have 4 category, A,B,C,D. A and B are lower circle, C and D are balcony. A cost 20 000 rubles for FS singles, 18 000 for SP, B- 12 000 rubles for FS and 9 000 for SP.Also with ticket you need to make a passport of a fan, there you write some information about you, like you passport info, full name and a code of ticket booking. Not sure if it is the same with foreigners but for USA and Europe they're going to sell tickets at another websites. Also the price can be higher for foreigners, not sure what is a %.

http://tickets.sochi...ion=eligibility Here you can find official websites which is going to sell tickets in you country(city) and contact info about Olympic National committees. So it seems for foreigners tickets are original price+20%. Considering how the rink is built, A is from 1st row to 10, and B from 10 and to the end of lower circle, tickets are going to be with seats only from August. And since then they're going to sell the second part of the tickets.
