1. Just A Girl (Dream on Ice 2007 - She lurched around with the beginning 3Lutz in this particular performance (I believe the only other time she opened with Lutz was at the COR but failed to land), but I love the youthful energy and exuberance coming out from her facial expressions and body movement. I find this EX groundbreaking and significant because it was her first dance-style EX number.)
2. Meditation From Thais (Vancouver Olympics - Needless to it's a most elegant and graceful EX program! Maybe it's the atmosphere or the fact that it was performed after her historical and spectacular gold-medal winning performance the night before, but, for me, I find the debut performance at the Olympics very special. Just beautiful spin positions and a graceful ending pose at the end!)
3. Bulletproof (The debut at ATSS - I really think this EX marks the new beginning of her post-Olympics career. I might have to change with this choice later when she eventually retires but, at this point, looks like it has opened up a new horizon for her. And what a stunning comeback after the 2010 WC! That event made some people concerned about whether she really has a motivation to continue skating but, boy, she certainly proved them wrong with this EX.)

1. Reflection (TEB 2007) - choreographed by her coach, reflects her personal insecurities and her skating career at the time 2. Thais de Meditation (Worlds 2010) - beautiful, poignant, wonderful. Last competition of the season. 3. Bulletproof - it was either this or Please Don't Stop the Music, which I also watched back to back with it today. I just love the energy, the choreography, the overall theme. It rocks.

Hehe... looks like I am the only one who voted 'once upon a time a dream'. I just thought the circumstances and THAT SEMINAL PHOTO it resulted makes a nice matching/contrast set to her latest All That Summer: Dreams theme. Just look how far Yuna has travelled in 4 years. So my vote goes to 1. Once upon time a dream (Lone performance for Supermatch fire disaster) 2. Only Hope (WC 2008 performance, how she rise above it with hope) 3. Bulletproof (Post Olympics) got my votes I have always felt you can learn a lot about a person rising from their darkest hours, as such, these performances will always be special to me because they made me a fan.

I agree with your top 3. Once Upon Time a Dream will always have a special place in my heart. She was soo strong when she skated and yet you could see her vulnerability.

"But when you watched Kim Yu-na . . .Well, it was like watching Jordan. It was like watching Wayne Gretzky, the puck on his stick, behind the net, occupying his "office." It was like watching Michael Johnson come screaming down the stretch in Atlanta in 1996. You may not know why it's awesome to watch. You just know that it is."

Can't explain why, but my favorite Gala is reflection, especially 2007 Tokyo Worlds and 2006 TEB.

That means at least for a period of time, Yuna's favorite gala is my favorite gala! Whoppeee! That means my taste and Yuna's taste are somewhat on the same page. I'm not sure why I feel good about that, but I just do.

QUOTE (jaylee @ Jul 28 2010, 05:44 PM) Only Hope, however, I don't remember when she said this (was it before the Olympics and before she had debuted Thais?). I can totally tell she was really into Only Hope at WC2008, it fits her like a glove. It was intrinsically her, be it her age, he inner voice and occasion at the time. I remember I got misty eyed watching it first time without knowing why. It was among my first randomly search for her clips on Youtube (next day after Olympics). I just thought it was beautiful and dreamy program akin to the end credit sequence of a Hollywood movie about of the becoming of an ice princess. However I also detected a lingering sense of melancholy without knowing why. Yuna looks so fragile, pale and delicate, entirely vulnerable but also strong at the same time, it is hard to explain. While there were a sense of hope, sincerity, peace and serenity being conveyed during the performance that left a lasting impression on me, a few days later I was still wondering what is going on with this girl, why the sense of tragedy (or even undercurrent hopelessness), how will she grow up, does she know she's going to become the Olympic Champ? What is going to happen to her now? This was before I knew her circumstance at WC2008, injuries at the time and even got into this Yuna fan forum thing. I personally think now her favourite now is likely to be Bulletproof, it is the perfect empowering program and she can gain strength from it, both physically and mentally. Be it to embrace a new found powerful womanhood or making life afresh as a challenger to her next goals. I can see she REALLY got into it during All that Summer, in the passionate performance she brought each day. I know this is not going to be a popular opinion, but I still think Yuna is still only at 80% in terms of fierce and aggravation needed to fully realize Bulletproof properly. It need a bit more hip pop street attitude. I am not blaming her for it though, since Yuna is clearly NOT FROM THE STREET and she showed noticeable improvements day by day. Hopefully by Worlds 2011, it should be at 100% and this program could seriously kick some a*s. If Yuna could let go with the tiniest bit of reservation and shyness she still have within her and embrace divadom, like the snap of her hands, the throw back of the arms, raise eyebrow, snap tilt of the head, and the welcoming challenge the crowd egging on gestures, she could really challenge Witt for the Diva Queen title of all time. In any case, even at 80%, she still rocks, so I can't and shouldn't complain really.
