First, I would like to thank the hard-working admins/owners of the forum for all the time, money, effort, work that they do behind the scenes, for many years.

I'm creating this thread for everyone to discuss the new and old features of the forum. As you guys find new features, please feel free to share here, and ask questions. The forum is still being customized.

Quote

Where is the portal/listing of most recently updated posts?

Option 1) Portal: http://yunaforum.com....php?app=portal

The portal is currently available on the top bar.

The portal lists the following: 15 most recent individual posts with an excerpt from each (even if multiple posts are from the same thread), and the 5 newest discussion threads started.

Option 2) Forum Index: http://yunaforum.com...dex.php?act=idx

The most recently updated discussions are also available on the forum index page. Top right, there is a box (also called a "hook") called "Latest Discussions." This box lists the ten most recently updated unique discussions (unlike the portal, it will only list a discussion once even if there have been multiple posts from this thread). The "Recent Topics" box below it lists the 5 most recently started discussions. (Note: until a new discussion has at least one response, it will not appear in the "Latest Discussions" box but it will appear in the "Recent Topics" box.)

Option 3) If you don't like how either of those listings look, you can search for new content and this listing will bring up newest content. This link is available at the upper right hand area of every page, "View New Content." If you have been away from the forum for a while, you can just adjust the setting to find content within the last day, or 2 days, etc.

Search for new content: http://yunaforum.com...arch_app=forums

Quote

I don't like the way the boxes on the forum index looks

Click the dark circle with the "minus" (-) sign in it and it will minimize the box.

You can also eliminate the entire right column of boxes. Next to the dark circle of the top box, there should be a floating X in a gray box. Click on that, and the column of boxes will disappear. Once it's gone, there will now be a floating arrow in a gray box. Click on that and the boxes will return.

Watching a subforum or thread

When you are within any subforum or thread, there is a button that says "Watch forum" or "Watch topic". You will then get a number of options on how to receive any updates to that forum or topic.

For example, I am using this for certain topics that I like, and then I am choosing "No Notification." It is then added to my subscriptions. On the forum index, there is a box "Watched Content," with one tab for watched forums and one for threads. Any threads I have subscribed to will appear in this box when new content has been added.

I can't get into the chat.

The chat is currently limited to 5 users at a time. For Yu-Na competitions and/or shows, we'll use a larger chat room as we did for Worlds.

Embedding Youtube videos

Simply paste the URL of a Youtube video and voila, it is magically embedded within the forum thread.

I think they're working on it.

Personally it's okay. The background is cool, refreshing and heavenly with Yuna's name, and matched the boards.

Many thanks to admins and everyone who works their best to level up the forum. <_< :giggle:

Wish we have the Thank you Button back to  properly!

Whoever lightened the background blue in the menus, it's now just right!

Agree that the "thank you" button is a hallmark feature, which should be revived if it's possible!

Thanks to the team who are working so generously and selflessly on the new format! My appreciation runneth over!

I'm excited to announce that the "thank you" button is back! See the button to the bottom left of the Edit/Reply/MultiQuote buttons? There it is! You can also remove the thanks button in case you accidentally thank someone's post in which they said "thank you". :swoon1:

New change: this thank you feature lists the members who say thank you. So, while you may miss being able to anonymously thank someone, now you get to see who thanked you. I honestly don't think it makes a big difference--the MKF lists all the thank you members, and it's not a big deal.

Hooray! :biggrin2:

Thank you so much for bringing this important function back (although I miss the graphic "Thank you" bar from the previous board).

Which actually begs the question, why did we decide to change the board system?? The old version was so much better than this version IMHO (notwithstanding the youtube link system, which is not essential in my view)

Because, particularly, the problem which had the old version is the outdated spam-protection which didn't work anymore. With this version they got rid of spam.

I miss the old forum too, though, and I wish the developers could make the compatibility with old skins and add-ons.

Ahh,, I see,, thx for clearing it up daniel,,,I thought that the ipboard upgraded their system and the admins weren't aware of it. I know, sometimes we(people) don't like change that much... especially if its something we use often. But hey,, we should progress,,, not regress :bye: security is really important in this case (no more shoes and weird spam :giggle: )

I thought it was neat how it used to be, especially the front page, like with the portal and online ppl, updates in one place,, plus the round icons on the top,,, but hope they get more flexible in the future... the admins/mods are doing a terrific job :biggrin2: ,,,,

That changed because the new system is not compatible with old skins  I also liked the look of old forum, but I'm already used to the new one. Eventually we'll get improved design, I'm sure. Just doing it step by step, like with the "Thanks" button.
