"If this was track and field, we just watched an 8-second 100 meters." - Jamie McGrigor, a skating analyst commenting on Yuna's LP performance at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics
"How do you make a Kim Yu-Na... you can't. It's truly a gift." Scott Hamilton - former gold medalist and NBC commentator

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gtEyhYEqg_8...feature=channelI always found it interesting that the SBS version and the NBC were pretty much the same, except for the end, where NBC choose to zoom in to Yuna's face and SBS decided to "zoom out" of Yuna's face and capture the audience. I liked the SBS version more in that "Yuna's shout" really encompassed her whole body, you could see Brian in the background and some members of the audience were already starting to give Yuna a standing ovation before the routine was totally over. It just felt like a more powerful ending than the NBC version in which Yuna looked straight ahead for just a moment before turning her head to shout.

Do you have any Youtube links to one version alone? NBC took down all their videos, so I can't link to them any more in the Yunapedia page. Seems like the videos are being left alone now, though. Oh yeah, and I noticed in the NBC version, at about the 4:08 mark, you can see as Yu-Na is finishing up her step sequence, in the background, the lady tells the skate girls (the ones who pick up the flowers) to get up and ready. There was an article that noted that they were getting ready with 40 seconds left to go in her program--knowing that Yu-Na would get quite the shower after she finished.

On why she started skating: "It was not to win an Olympic gold medal, but it was because skating was so much fun and because I thought Michelle Kwan was so beautiful and I wanted to be like her." --Yu-Na Kim, May 8, 2009, after winning the World Championships

"But when you watched Kim Yu-na . . .Well, it was like watching Jordan. It was like watching Wayne Gretzky, the puck on his stick, behind the net, occupying his "office." It was like watching Michael Johnson come screaming down the stretch in Atlanta in 1996. You may not know why it's awesome to watch. You just know that it is."

QUOTE (GiuliaPlumm @ Aug 15 2010, 04:27 PM) LOL wow that was surreal. Mao is pronounced as Cat in Chinese I believe, so it made the clip really surreal. It is like having the animal counterpart doing her moves. Yuna's Chinese name on the hand hand is pronounced the same as a Swallow (bird), so I wonder if we will see a big blue bird doing the Gershwin, now that would truly make my week!! (btw fyi Caroline Kostner's nick in Chinese forums is Sister Turkey lol but not for the reason you think, but more like one of her famous performances and costumes in the past made her resemble a Turkey (live one) ... skating world is a crazy animal zoo I guess! )
