latest rumor involving Yuna:

1. According to recent reports, Mao Asada has made an offer to Brian Orser to coach her, and Orser is considering the offer, after discussing the situation with Yuna. This would obviously hinge on whether Yuna chooses to retire. If she does, it is possible that Orser may coach Mao. Brian's coaching contract with Yuna expired at the end of this season and has not yet been renewed or renegotiated.

EDIT [April 25, 2010]: Orser has publicly denied this rumor, stating that "Yuna is his only concern" and that he has not given any thought about Mao, although he admitted that IMG (Mao's agent) informally approached him about coaching Mao during the 2010 World Championship.

Discuss~

Russian Mao fans discussed Brian as a coach for Mao like a joke since the Olympics. I don't know what to think if it will come true.

Mao wants to stay and train in Japan, so this rumor is very very unlikely to become true. :sweatingbullets:

And not to mention the situation of Min Jung, Orser is coaching her. It sounds unlikely. But anything is possible.

Agree, it sounds unreal to me... And Mao has so many shows in Japan this summer, so it will be hard for her to travel that much between Canada and Japan. If Yuna retires, maybe Orser will need another top skater, but why Mao? It will be really strange and a little bit awkward, especially after becoming an honorary Seoul citizen, etc...

I think we don't need to be too serious. :sweatingbullets:

Yuna is going back to Toronto no matter what, and who is she training with while MJ is training with Orser in the same Cricket Club? :rofl2:

You are so right!! I was personally very confused when I read that article, although I thought business is business. Now I think about it more, it simply seems to be an absurd idea, even if Mao were to make an offer Orser couldn't refuse...

Lot of people are already discrediting this article... the quality of journalism in Korea is so bad...

Anyway, with the FOI over, I guess the off-season has now fully kicked off, with all sorts of rumors flying about. No wonder Yuna prefers Toronto...

I agree with. That's already been reported and that is consistent with Mao's actions in the past (wanting to be in Japan is what led to her split with Rafael). So an interest from Mao in training with Brian in Canada seems illogical.

I can hardly understand why rumors are flying around about Brian considering the offer when Yu-Na hasn't announced any decision yet. How can Brian consider the offer when Yu-Na hasn't made a decision? What Brian wants most of all is for Yu-Na to continue skating. If she hasn't made up her mind, Brian would NEVER pressure her or influence her decision by taking on Mao before Yu-Na has decided.

Seriously, this seems tabloid-esque journalism. Which would not be entirely inconsistent...

Btw, here is what we DO know. Brian has a continuing coaching contract with Adam Rippon, Christina Gao, and Min-Jung Kwak. Adam Rippon is a rising star in the US, and Brian himself called Christina Gao the next big thing in US ladies figure skating. Min-Jung has her own talents and potential. Brian is not lacking in talented skaters to coach next season. He's already invested in these skaters. I don't see how Mao, who is in a completely different stage in her career, is going to fit in easily with the skaters he's already coaching.

There are too many things that strike me as ODD in this report.

Actually this is true with all Asian medias...lol even in Hong Kong/TW/China etc...journalism is pretty bad...at least in the entertainment circle.

Frankly speaking, just a few journalists are lame. You know, a few particular journalists always write such articles to get lots of view counts and earn money. He is one of the notorious ones in the fans' black list.

Maybe we should erase the first part about Brian and Mao since we all know now it's a fictitious rumor made up by a phony Korean journalist. I haven't even visited FSU yet, but I'd hate to see someone bring this rumor over there and to have pages of worthless discussion over a FAKE story.

But the second part about Yuna forming her own company. Is there any truth to that?
