yes, it's already a big news in Korea.

don't know the details yet, but it looks like Yuna will leave Brian Orser.
No more energy drinks! They give me big big headaches!!!

I think its just that there are not much news to report in Korea that they have to make these things up. In any case, I hope its not true. If its true, theres a big possibility that Yuna will leave Toronto for good. I don't think I can handle that.
Thanks Poloska

Umm... I've been away from the forum for a while and I'm kind of crestfallen from this news...
I always thought the two were a good match as a coach/student, and hasn't Yuna said she doesn't plan to change coaches unless she plans to retire?

oooooooommmmmmmmmmmmgggggggg

according to the news, Yuna's mom sent the notice to Brian and Tracy, and Brian is just as shellshocked as all of us...

This is crazy!!

I don't understand... wasn't it Yuna's mother who wanted Brian to coach her in the first place?
What's happened that such a drastic (and sudden too) decision was made on her part? :(
I do hope Yu na had a chance to bid him a decent good bye if this were true, but I'm still hoping it's just a silly rumor...

Wow, what a shock!

But in a way...........I don't know, I am not shocked, at the same time. I don't know why, but at the ATS Summer show, I knew that Brian had a legitimate reason for not being there. Yet while I was sad that he wasn't there, I realized that by the end, he didn't really need to be there. I even wrote up my thoughts and was going to post them but decided not to, that it wasn't necessary.

When I looked at the initial GP assignments for this following season, I was filled with dread when I noticed how Adam Rippon's assignments were sandwiched with Yu-Na's. And while Christina being on the JGP helped, and Min-Jung getting Skate America (with Adam) helped, and then Yu-Na's decision to withdraw from the GP also helped, I thought that it might hold together for another season but such a situation could not continue on towards Sochi. Yu-Na was Brian's top priority for the three seasons going to Vancouver.

However, it is extremely clear that there are high expectations for Adam and Christina (I think today's Ice Network article about Adam made that extremely clear) for the four seasons through Sochi. Brian cannot be split into three people to go to every one of their events. He just can't, and if he were to try, it would be unfair to all of them. Both Adam and Christina will need even more attention in the future.

So what does it mean? That Yu-Na will ultimately retire after next year's worlds? That she wants to return to Korea and train there? That she wants another coach? I don't know. But I hope they tell us.

according the latest news/rumors which are circulating like crazy here, the cause of the split may have been Yuna's mom, and ATS is checking with people in Canada to confirm the news. They are saying they will make an official statement this afternoon in Korea....

this is hard to believe....

That's what actually sounds very suspicious to me. Given the nature of the relationship between Brian and Yuna, and also between him and her mom, sending a note like this does not make sense! Anything less than a face-to-face talk with some form of an explanation is not fair to Brian!

it wasn't a written notice, but Yuna's mom and Brian had a face-to-face meeting.

I am taking a page from my "All I learned about being a figure skating fan I learned from Michelle Kwan" book and say...whatever news and rumors come out, I hope we can take a deep breath and try to understand why they made the decisions they did.

I am trying to decide if this is more or less shocking than when Michelle fired both Lori Nichol and Frank Carroll leading up to the 2002 Olympics.

Wait, so it's thought that the decision was entirely Yuna's mom's? :(
I guess we'll find out soon enough.

I am absolutely shocked. This is the last thing I was expecting. :(
I wonder if she's going to coach herself...?

I just had a deja vu. o.O

Did they even renew or extend the coaching contract after Vancouver? I thought that was when it ended.
